Who's that Pokemon?! Pokemon is so instantly recognizable around the world! No matter if it’s just the logo itself, its most popular character Pikachu, or one of the hundreds of other characters. So many Pokemon characters are so well loved and have legions of fans around the world, that it’s difficult to find someone who can’t choose one that they love best! The series started as a pair of video games from Nintendo on the Game Boy portable system. The first two games were called ‘Pokemon Red and Blue’, although an interesting piece of trivia is that in its home nation of Japan this duo was titled ‘Pokemon Red and Green’. Started in 1996, this game series has grown to include a worldwide smash hit anime TV show, animated movies, merchandise like plushies, jewelry, socks, plates, pillow cases, you name it! Already a robust hit showing no signs of stopping, its fame has lasted already for over a quarter of a century. There are many theories and ideas as to why Pokemon has been able to retain its fanbase and continue growing throughout the years. Many people believe that it may be because of the sheer variety of Pokemon (almost one thousand!), mixed with all their different personality types ranging from cute, strong, and downright wacky. This plus the fact that there’s a certain nostalgic element related to a series that has been running for so long too, is something that truly keeps fans coming back for more. In 2016 a new page in the world of Pokemon opened and the augmented-reality game ‘Pokemon GO’ was released for mobile gaming around the world! An instant favorite, this game was not just a new step for Pokemon but a step forward in the possibilities of gaming overall! Pokemon means so many things to people of all nationalities, and the love for this series shows no signs of slowing down!
