Since 1997, Pokemon has been taking fans on adventures worldwide, allowing them to meet hundreds and hundreds of different Pokemon. With over 25 years of content, the Pokemon anime series has had several incredibly memorable events that have shocked and moved fans worldwide. Here are just a few more notable moments from the Pokemon anime!
This is where it all started. When the young boy Ash takes his first steps to become the world’s greatest Pokemon Master, a journey that would last years and years is just beginning. In this first episode, Ash meets Professor Oak, his mentor and guide for much of his early days as a Pokemon Trainer.
This is also the first time Ash meets Pikachu, his closest and most cherished friend. Everything began with this seminal episode, and the excitement never slowed down for a second.
In his early days, Ash met and befriended many Pokemon, but few would become as significant and long-lasting as the little Charmander he saved. Left alone in the rain and close to death, Ash and his friends jumped to the little Pokemon’s rescue.
Not only did this prove Ash’s commitment to helping any Pokemon he met, but it was also the moment when Ash gained a valuable member of his Pokemon team. That little Charmander would eventually evolve into a great Charizard, a Pokemon that would stay with Ash for many years.
Ash’s biggest pains were the Team Rocket members Jesse and James (and Meowth!) Always right behind Ash and his friends, this terrible twosome tried to capture Pikachu. Pokemon Trainers themselves, Jesse and James’ signature Pokemon were their Arbok and Weezing.
However, when they came across an endangered group of poached Koffings and Ekans’, Jesse and James made the heartbreaking decision to release Arbok and Weezing so that they could protect the other Pokemon. Despite being villainous, Arbok and Weezing had been with Jesse and James since the beginning and had become very close to the Team Rocket members. Bad guys or not, letting them go was a sad moment in the series.
Ash’s journey across the Pokemon world wouldn’t have been possible without Misty and Brock. They were the first Gym Leaders he defeated and chose to travel with him for much of his adventure. Eventually, they parted ways.
It’s hard to say precisely what they’ve been doing since leaving Ash. Misty resumed her role as the Cerulean City Gym Leader. Brock became a doctor in the Kanto Region. Now that Ash is the world’s greatest Pokemon Trainer, he likely has time to visit them.

Everything came to this exact moment in Pokemon history. Ash’s dream since the very beginning was to become the world’s greatest Pokemon Master. After 25 years of adventure, danger, and growth, Ash finally achieved his dream. Set within the Galar Region, Ash was able to compete in the Masters Eight Tournament of the Pokemon World Coronation Series.
His final Pokemon team consisted of Gengar, Dragonite, Lucario, Dracovish, Sirfetch’d, and Pikachu. Battling against Pokemon Sword and Shield’s Leon, the final battle came to Ash’s Pikachu against Leon’s Charizard. Their battle was so fierce that the Legendary Pokemon Eternatus awakened, and after defeating both Eternatus and Charizard, Ash stood as the grand victor. It was a moment of and for the ages.
