Since it is the Spring season, the word “Sakura” is becoming more commonly used in Japan. Ranging from the world famous Cherry Blossoms, to Sakura Mochi, spring-time in Japan is really the season of Sakura. But did you know that Sakura is also quite a popular female anime character name? Let’s take a look at some of the most popular Sakura’s found in anime!
1. Sakura Matou – Fate Series
Straight out of the famous Fate series, how can we not include Rider’s Master, Sakura (Tohsaka) Matou. While in Fate/Zero we did not see much of her except for her slight backstory of how she is a Matou and how she got separated from her sister Rin Tohsaka, Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works is where she shows her magic prowess as she fights for the Grail with her servant, Rider.
2. Sakura Haruno – Naruto
Coming from one of the most of OG animes ever created, we have our favorite weak-turned-insanely-strong protagonist from the Village Hidden in the Leaves! While at first she seemed like an ordinary side character, she really came into her own with healing ninjutsu and inheriting Lady Tsunade’s monster strength. One thing about her is for sure though – her love for Sasuke never waned.
3. Sakura Sakurakouji – Code:Breaker
While on the outside she looks like a princess who every young man wishes to be her knight in shining armor, she’s actually a martial arts expert! Yes, she can lay you on your bum in 2 seconds!
4. Sakura Kinomoto – Cardcaptor Sakura/Tsubasa Chronicle
In Cardcaptor Sakura, she unwillingly frees the Clow Cards and must retrieve them before they cause trouble. In Tsubasa Chronicles, she’s the princess of Clow and in love with her childhood friend, Syaoran. Sakura is an upbeat girl, always ready to offer assistance to anyone in need!
5. Sakura Momoko – Chibi Maruko-chan
Being 9 years old, she is like any other child. Lazy, disoriented and usually late for school, she’s the stark contrast of her older sister who is organized and responsible. While she always tries to avoid homework and only enjoys playing outdoors with her friends, she is overall a well-mannered kid who tries to do good.
